My Top Three Most Memorable Hikes

Many people have asked what my favorite hikes are. I have finally put together a list of my top three most memorable hikes. So, in no particular order, please enjoy!

Hanging Lake

Hanging Lake | Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Hanging Lake | Colorado

Located near Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Hanging Lake is one of the most popular hikes in the state. It is suspended high above the ground on the edge of the Glenwood Canyon cliffs. The hike itself is a bit strenuous, especially if you aren’t used to higher elevation hiking. It has a 1096 foot elevation gain in just under a mile. Along the hike you’ll notice lush hanging green plant life and small springs. Once you get to the top, you’ll be amazed at the clear, turquoise water, many visible trout and an abundant waterfall, named Spouting Rock.

Ousel Falls

Ousel Falls | Big Sky, Montana

Ousel Falls | Montana

Ousel Falls is located just outside of Big Sky, Montana. It is a short hike of about .8 miles and only has an 80 foot elevation gain. Along the hike, you will hear the bustling sounds of the stream that is located throughout the trail. There is plenty of shade along the way and the trail is well maintained. The main feature of this hike is the 40 foot Ousel Falls.

Delicate Arch

Delicate Arch | Moab, Utah

Delicate Arch | Utah

Delicate Arch hike is a moderate hike in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah. It is about 3 miles round trip. It features the most iconic arch in Arches National Park, Delicate Arch. This trail is very exposed to the elements and since it is on slickrock, sometimes the trail is not very well defined and slippery. The trail is usually very busy, so if you do not really know where the trail is, you can just follow one of the many other hikers that will be there that day. This hike will also be very hot so you need to remember to bring at least 1 liter of water per person and follow desert hiking tips.
